How to create an online marketing plan


In order to have a profitable business, you first need a steady stream of income and clients. Instead of cold calling on a daily basis, create a sales funnel that brings your ideal audience to you.

  1. Create an irresistible freebie

You free offer should tie into what products or services you offer. The most common form of free offer is an ebook or checklist that solves a problem for your ideal client. Other ideas include a video training series showing your ideal clients how to do something), hosting a webinar or a coupon for your store.

  1. Create your opt-in page

The number one reason for creating a free giveaway is to get people to sign up for your email list. Your opt-in page or landing page should tell people what they will get in return for giving your their email address. When you have a designated landing page, people won’t get distracted clicking through to other pages on your website. The goal is to get their email address and that’s it.

  1. Promote, promote, promote

There is no point having a free giveaway if people don’t know about it. Write guest posts for popular blogs in your industry and include a link to your freebie in your bio at the end. Promote your freebie on your social media pages. You can create a new Facebook cover image (and then change all of your social media cover images to be consistent) and tell your fans about your freebie. You can even try Facebook Ads to get in front of highly targeted prospects. Tell as many people as you can about your freebie.

  1. Get in their inbox

Social media is not the place to sell. People go on Facebook to see what their friends and family are doing and not to be sold to. The best strategy is to use social media to promote your freebie, then once you have their email address, set up an email autoresponder that goes out to new subscribers. Always provide value first and get your subscribers to know, like and trust you, then you earn the right to promote your products and services.

Online marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Take the time to get your plan into place and build your audience in an authentic way. Then the sales will come.
